Okay so… I did a 3d rough and 3d finishing. But I used my 201 square and not my ball nose :-D. Is there an easy way to go back in and take off another layer with the ball nose? I am fine going in a bit deeper. I have room ![]()
Yes, just create a 3D finishing toolpath using the #202 and then run that.
Is it going to be smart enough to get the offset right?
I guess I should add. I am almost done with the 201 finishing path ![]()
It simply continues, trying to remove what the roughing toolpath left uncut.
Okay that helped a little. But it would be sweet to be able to drop it down a mm to take out some rough spots :-D. My issue is that I did my rough cut with a bowl bit that I might have setup wrong :-D. But thats okay. I just get to do a little extra sanding tonight ![]()
You can shift origin down by the depth per pass pretty safely — maybe a bit more than that depending on how conservative feeds and speeds are and how rigid your machine is.
If everything is still set up in the machine , AND you don’t have any all-the-way-through cuts to still be made, you can just lower your Z Zero a little bit.
Jog so your Z position is a bit above your Z Zero. In the zeros tab, take the current Z amount, add ‘a little bit’ (for example, 1mm), then enter that new value in the Z entry box. So now the machine thinks it’s a little bit further above Z Zero, so it will go that much further deeper.
You don’t want to do this if you have any cuts to make all the way through your stock, since it will cut into the wasteboard.
Thanks @WillAdams and @mhotchin giving that a go. Doh… should have thought of that before ![]()
