Based on the title of the original message I believe a downloadable version is what was requested. Sometimes local storage is a good alternative. But one must manage that data just like any other resource.

I am an old person that has gone to the digital age. It is nice to have the info on my computer, the most up to date is better. So I try to get the most recent info online.
Threw out my Encyclopedia Britannica 30 years ago
