I got my Shapeoko Pro all set up. Twice now when I have gotten done with a carve, I see an oily spot on my wood. One time I saw the drip, but I couldn’t figure out where it came from. Any ideas of where to check on the gantry to figure out what is dripping and make it stop. Light pine and oily drips are not helpful.
Check the rails that the Z carriage runs on, right at the bottom. Excess oil will slowly collect at the bottom, then drip.
I now always park my machine with something under the Z to catch drips, and wipe off the bottom end of the rail before using.
Since this is new it is just excess oil leaking out. You have to periodically oil the bearings and linear rails. When you do always put a paper towel under the parked Z. Oil will seep down and onto your spoilboard. Before starting a project use a paper towel to wipe off the bottom of the Z linear rails. It will stop when the excess oil has dripped out. In the mean time just wipe the excess off.
There is nothing wrong and this happens every time you service your Shapeoko.
Thanks. My smaller CNC I had before I used a dry lube so I didn’t think of that. I will just wipe it down before the carve.
It’s excess oil, as others have said, wipe things down, it’ll eventually stop.
I’ve only had leaking issues from the blocks, once when a screw came out of the fill hole on the 2 lower blocks facing down. There are 4 oil blocks on the Z axis.
