Identifying my shapeoko

i just bought a used shapeoko and im trying to identify it… the serial number on the plate is 7282.

Pictures, pictures, pictures.

Show us the entire machine, and a close-up of the entire Z axis (where the spindle mounts).

EDIT - As a new user, you may not be able to post pictures yet. An Admin will likely update your permissions to allow it.

It will be a Shapeoko 3 — the question is which size.

If it’s rectangular, it is an XL, if it’s workbench size and squarish, it is a Standard, if it’s larger and squarish, then it is an XXL.

Once you figure out what model you have you want to see if it has mechanical homing switches or the newer type. Also which version of gbrl is on your controller so you can use the most current version of Carbide Motion. On really old ones that no one updated you might have to buy a new controller,

There are several accessories that it might have come with but are very useful to buy. The BitSetter and BitZero and maybe a BitRunner. You look up what each one is but the BitSetter and BitZero are very useful.

Let us know how you are progressing.

Awesome that’s what I was thinking just from pictures but wanted to make sure. It’s definitely the xxl. It says on the controller grbl 1.1 it appreaently didn’t come with an estop button or bit setter or bit zero or bit runner either. Where’s the best place to buy them at? Thanks for your help.

The Carbide 3D accessories are in the shop:

E-stop button you’ll need to source and possibly wire-up yourself. Perhaps something like:

Ages ago, there was a power strip with a locking e-stop-style button on it, but it seems to have been discontinued.

On my SO3 XXL I have a power strip on the front leg of my stand. Hooked up to that power strip is a magnetic power switch. If I power off the magnetic power switch everything gets shut down. My controller and my router get shut down. If my power fails during running of my SO3 having a magnetic switch means when the lights come back on everything is off and wont come back on till I hit the on switch. There are several like this on Amazon.
