I purchased 3 tool sets from the Scienci website and downloaded the tool database into Vcarve Pro 12. When I click on any material in the top dialogue box, other than softwood, the tools do not show up in the Scienci list. When I am in the drop down menus in the list, and I click between softwood and hardwood, there are different parameters for the tool ie: depth of cut difference. So when selecting a bit from the Scienci tool list, do I just leave the material material dialogue box at the top set to softwood and select the material and tool from the dropdowns and all will be good? This does not happen with the metric and imperial lists that came installed in the program.
OOPS … sorry …I didn’t notice that you were using VCarve Pro 12. Ignore my advice.
Under the “Machine” option did you select “ALL” ?? I needed to do that to get the SpeTool selections to be seen. The “ANY” option is not the same as the “ALL” option.
Try that … good luck.
Material selection should be for the material being used. Select that material and the cutter, and then copy the tool in this dialog. Once copied, make necessary adjustments and apply. This is an organizational tool which helps you remember which settings are appropriate for each substrate. It isn’t required to use it, but it is a good idea. Its a good warning that an operator might be cutting corners and just might save a broken cutter. Reference images are backwards…sorry. The lower image is what you would see first and where you copy the tool into the material/tool database. The upper image is where you would make corrections. Don’t anybody take my feeds and speeds as truth because I did this for example only. Don’t forget to give your new tools a number.
Thanks Charles, I think I have it figured out now. The way I understand is all of the tool data was imported under the softwood material type. So, data was still there for each material but not populated under the proper header. What I did was went under the softwood material header, selected the hardwood bits from the drop down menu and copied that tool into the proper material header, if that makes sense.
