I created a halftone generated image from CutRocket. Seems that every SVG file I created and downloaded was 25.7 MEG in size.
Is this size normal?
Then I tried importing one into Carbide Create. But it has been running for about 3 hours now. I have tried this a couple times with the same result. Is this normal? Or is it hung up?
I have even tried different sizes in #2 of the CutRocket generator.
Am I doing something wrong?
Can someone expand on the correct process I should be following?
Half tone files are quite large. There are a lot of vectors and the 3 hours does not seem that long. When the files are created in CC they estimate the cut time. Then when you load the file into CM it is always longer. The calculations may be for the actual time the bit is engaged in the material but do not consider the retracts and fast moves. Unless the machine has just quit running and sitting there it is not hung up. In earlier versions of CC and CM there was a file limit. The last few versions that has been fixed and I have run 12 hours cut time files with no problem.
Guy, thank you for your input but maybe I did not describe very well. I never even got to the point of carving yet. All I was trying to do that was taking over 3 hours was importing the SVG into a new project.
I unerstand that the carvings them selves might take quite a while.
Please send this SVG in to us at support@carbide3d.com and we will do our best to look into it.
Of corse, today I tried again and it imported real fast. Not sure, I did reboot last night.
But then my next question, when imported, it does not look like anything at all. Is this normal that it looks like just circles, both small and large circles?
If so, I created a V-CAARVE toolpath and my simulation was just a bunch of “V” boxes.
I must be missing something.
I will aslso email the file from this morning to support.
Yes, that’s what half toning is (or one implementation).
