I, like many others here, have been using the Feature Request section of this community as a means to provide ideas for future releases of CC and CM. For the most part, those items get liked and added to, within a day or two - and then sit for the required time period before being automatically closed. Some of the features end up in releases, some never do. Here are three ideas that I think will improve the process:
Provide Dispositions
Add (and update) a disposition of the requests in the thread. For example: “Implemented in vX.x”, “Scheduled for release vX.x”, “Under consideration for release vX.x”, “When time permits”, “Never”.
Flag when Completed
Once a suggestion makes its way into a release it would be nice to use the “Solved” flag in addition to putting the version number into the thread (above).
What’s Coming Soon
Lastly…it would be nice to see a roadmap of new features expected in the next 2 or 3 releases. I’m not talking about giving away trade secrets, merely communicating to users so they can plan accordingly. This is one of those things that professional software companies do…and as CC Pro begins to charge, it is going to be more important to bolster this level of communication.
