Inlay trouble with vcarve

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I am doing wrong. I am trying to cut a plug for an inlay and I have had this problem twice now. I am using Carbide Create V8 and using advanced carve. It cuts just fine with the 1/8 downcut but when it o the vcarve with the 30 degree bit I get cuts into the edge. I have never had any issues before and I cut the second one with new bits thinking maybe I had a dull bit. Any ideas?

What is the geometry of the 30 degree V tool? Does it have a rounded tip?

Are the feeds and speeds for it appropriate to the material you are cutting? Could the plunge rate be too fast?

It is a sharp point IDC 30 degree 1/4 shank. I use the speeds and feeds that they recommend. On the second one I slowed it down by about 20%. Never had a problem before.

The carve suggests there may have been physical interference with the v carve at the bottom edge of the plug. Similar to a dust boot not fully clearing a clamp but that often results in lost steps which do not appear to be present. Can you post the file used to cut the plug?

There are artifacts near the top and sides of the heart. These are probably being included in the toolpath. Zoom in and you will see them. They should be removed.

Cheers.
PS on closer look, there are artifacts throughout the file. I may try to clean it but I may not have time until later today.

Here is a clean file. The toolpaths will need to be remade. The letters are not perfect but this may be sufficient. This is a V 7 file, but you should be able to open it.

Thanks to Bozo on this forum for the help and the correct fix. I have attached a photo of the new board that I am making for my sister and brother in law for their 50th wedding anniversary. Thanks again for all the help.

@taevette Hey that turned out really nice! The inlays look very tight… Well done!

Thanks for the nice word.
