Installed HDZ upgrade, now X axis messed up

Installed the HD upgrade over the weekend. When I connect the machine to the latest beta Carbide Motion, the machine will not travel to the last few inches on the left. When I zero X after the machine homes, then move it all the way left, Motion reports X at -810mm.

Wait, is it that the new Z plate is that much smaller?

Can you share your $$ grbl settings?

how do i do that? I can’t find a way

Open the log.
Send $$ through the MDI…it’ll spit a bunch of $ values to the log.

Is this it?

That’s your Z, Y, & X max travel. And it looks like you’re at -820mm on the X right now?
With soft limits off ($20 = 0), it must be CM that is limiting motion. Maybe assuming you have a dust boot?

The difference in width of the original Z plate and the new HD Z plate is 2 inches. It seems CM4 isn’t letting us take advantage of the extra 2 inches of X.

I’m limited to 820mm; is there a way to manually change that?

Use a different sender.

It is my understanding that modifying CM to account for the narrower width of the HDZ plate is one of the things which will happen in the next update/version of CM.

Perfect! You guys should advertise that X increases by 2" with the HD upgrade. That would have actually made me pull the trigger sooner.

To be clear, does the HDZ reduce the work area currently?

no, potentially increases the x width. It is way narrower than the original

It’s not advertised since Carbide Motion doesn’t support it (yet) — I’m sure it will be a featured aspect once the new version of CM which is in development is announced (no idea when that will be though).

Great, thanks for letting me know

There is an increase in X and in Z. I expected 150mm as the Z travels 150mm which is double the regular Z but the real is probably 110mm as this is the maximum that will go under the gantry if you do not have a supplementary wasteboard.
