Instructions for countersinking a bolt

Using Create, i am trying to drill for the countersink then drill for the bolt.

Hole is
0.75" deep (through the work)
0.25" wide

Countersink is
0.125" wide and 0.0875" deep

I cannot seem to be able to generate the correct .nc file.

Is there something in the tutorials on how to do this?

The countersink is smaller than the bolt hole… Either way just create 2 circles of the correct size centered on the same center point and then make 1 drilling toolpath for the .25 to the correct depth and a pocket for the larger countersink hole to the correct depth. Or do the pocket first then the drilling

As @Jeffish wrote, your countersink is smaller than the through hole, unless you meant the countersink should be 0.125" larger than the through hole.

Then, is that 0.125" wider the diameter or radius of the additional countersink dimension?

What hardware are you trying to make a countersink for?

Metric or Imperial? (note that if angled, the angles are different)

Imperial not metric although I can work on both

Think of a carriage bolt with a washer
Washer 1/8 thick, 2 inches wide.

That is called a counterbore.

Countersink = tapered or chamferd edge around a hole for something like a flat head screw.

Counterbore = flat bottomed recess around hole for something like a washer.

You would make another pocket that is 2" (50mm) diameter and whatever depth you need, centered on the through hole.

@MadHatter Yeah I confused both terms myself… and if its a carriage bolt you have to account for the square shank under the domed head. That changes the geometry for the counterbore from a round to square placed low enough in the material so the domed head of the bolt can be flush to the top of the material unless thats not a requirement.

Have two circles:

Use a pocket for the larger circle to the desired depth:

Use a Drill toolpath on the center:

setting it to start at the bottom of the previous pocket:
