Is the feedrate increment button limited in carbide motion

I’m new to my tools and I’m still trying to adjust the feedrates to get maximum performance. I’ve found that clicking the button to increasing the feedrate in carbide motion, while a job is in play, speeds up the feed but is limited to about 6 or 7 clicks before the speed caps out. I’m almost certain the machine can go faster. So my question is, is this a limit in the software or somewhere else? Is there a way to keep incrementing the speed past the limit?

Should be 10 clicks (110–200%).

Our recommendation is that if one has maxed out a given feed, make a user tool which cuts at 200% (or double the user tool one is testing) and repeat the testing.

The feedrate override is a feature of GRBL (running on the controller board), and is limited to a max of 200% override - that’s why CM won’t go any higher than that.

Ok thanks, just to throw my 2 cents in, it sure would be nice if the software would just let you increase until you hit the max feedrate of the machine.

When you’re dialing in feedrates, set the programmed feedrate to 1/2 of the machine max.
So if your max is 200, set the feedrate in your program to 100.
You may have to remember to start at a lower percentage, but this is only for determining the optimum feedrate for your machine/tool/material combination. Once determined, program with that feedrate.

10-200% is a standard on most all CNC machines for feedrate override.

Thanks for the info. I never knew where to start with feed rate. I’m still getting used to it. I assume this concept is specifically for medium to softwoods and not metals.
