The cutting area on the Shapeoko 3 is ~16" x 16", but part of that is the unsupported cutting area at the front of the machine (used for tool changes and cutting odd shapes and for joinery).
As noted, you can tile larger parts by passing them in from the front and out the back.

That is a damn good deal for a working SO3, still little cheaper to get that and a SO3 Expansion (https://shop.carbide3d.com/products/shapeoko-expansion) than buying the larger machine new out right. Also, cheaper upfront to determine if the machine is right for you, before investing in the expansion.
