It only Hurt a Little Bit

For years, I have struggled with mounting large workpieces into my Shapeoho3, and with an upcoming project (23" Wide Board) I decided it was time to do something drastic and fix a design error. I mean if a machine can machine something 16"x16" (well YOU know what I mean), shouldn’t we be able to hold a piece of stock larger then 16"?

I decided that an additional hole placed 70mm to the outside would solve 99% of my large work holding problem (adding 2-holes at 50mm wasn’t an easy option). PS I am still contemplating adding an additional row to the front…(someday)

I made a little drill fixture that mounted to 2-holes just so the new holes were aligned to the existing rows. Not necessary, but I wanted it to look “factory.” I tapped them using my trusty lazy hand tapper. Start to finish…about 90 min.

Clever way to locate the new holes.

As always, exceptionally nice work.
