It's not over yet!

My previous topic about my machine just stopping seemed to be resolved, but now something new comes up.

when I tried to run a full initialization the Bitsetter doesn’t repond. During init, the router slides over to the right, to it’s spot over the bitsetter and decends as usual. The plunger goes down all the way but nothing happens and the router just bumps repeatedly until I click the stop. Of course, this paralyzes my machine. I don’t know of a remedy or a work around.

Connections as far as I can see, seem fine.

I am Chaz’ deepening dispair.

It’s likely that the bitsetter button is not registering due to a malfunction/miswiring. Does the LED light up if you push the bitsetter manually ?

Thanks!

I kinda assumed there was something amiss with the bitsetter circuits, except I havn’t ever touched the electrics and it’s been months since I last looked at the settings.

The button doesn’t appear to light up when pressed manually.

I have a called scheduled with support here in a little bit.

Still not over.

What I know is that the bitsetter is non-responsive. Can’t say why.

I didn’t get a manual. Can’t find one online yet…

My machine sits in an enclosure that prevent direct access to the controller.

I tried booking a phone session but can’t talk to anyone till the 13th.

Email rsvp seems slow.

Manuals are at:

and

Until the BitSetter is working again, you can use the machine by:

  • power up and connecting to it
  • going to Settings (do not initialize)
  • disable the BitSetter

OK Will, we’re making progess.

I went and opened the side of the enclosure to expose the controller. I opened the controller housing and it appears that the cable that runs from the bitsetter to the controller is disconnected on the controller side. I suspect that while I was rooting around tring to figure out why my machine died the other nite, I pulled the wrong cable a bit too hard.

I’ll attach pics. Second image shows the suspect piece

Does the manulal show where that plug should go on the motherboard?

Just need to know where this goes and I think we’ll be good. Yay.

There is great rejoicing in the shop.

With the manuals help I was able to home right in on the solution.

I haven’t run a full init yet, but with the machine powered up and pressing the the bitsetter button the red light responds. So I’m pretty sure all is well. I want to button things back up after lunch, then get back to work.

Thanx to all! :+1: :vulcan_salute:

NEXT DAY!
I ran a couple jobs last night and sure enough, the world is truly back to spinning in greased grooves. I couldn’t be happier
