Just not getting it?

Good Evening All,

Went and purchased the PRO version. Stepping up to attempting some 3D stuff.

I am getting lost/confused.

  1. I have set up the stock 12"x12"x1.5" (glued up poplar)

Imported the STL, a raven on a branch.

Can anyone define the below.

Import Parameters:
Angle?
XY Scale?
Z scale?

what is the base height?

Right now I have the raven model section and all I see in when I look at the 3d in the raven image not the outline of the stock. There is something very simple that I am missing I am sure. In all the videos I have watched there is an assumption that know something.

I have attempted to include pictures of how it is set up.

Thank in advance.
John

STLs are 3D models:

It is necessary to select geometry to determine the centerpoint at which the 3D model will be imported at:

The Angle determines at what rotation angle an STL will be imported at.

changing it rotates the model:

XY Scale determines how large the imported model will be along X and Y:

Z Scale determines how large the model will be on the Z-axis of the stock:

Base Height will add additional thickness so as to place the model in terms of Stock Thickness:

If you want more control or a more dynamic interface I would recommend:

Thank you for the slowing things down for me. I was able to find where some of my errors.

How do i get the Raven to be a part of a small piece.

I am attempting to put the raven in the center of a 12"x12" X1.5"

When I add base hight teh image disappears.

Please send the STL which you are having this difficulty with, and a screen grab showing the problematic settings in to support@carbide3d.com and we will look into this with you.

The file in question is invalid, and needed to be repaired — once repaired:

It was re-saved and when imported into a suitable file:

worked as expected, even when Base height was added.
