Dear Collective, In the last 2 days my XXL has been stopping when a couple of minutes into the cut. ‘Connection has been lost’, so have to reinitialise, even restart CM. Any ideas why this is happening please? I am using an old laptop, which might be the problem? I have tried the different USB ports and all the updates have been done?

Keyser Söze often turns out to be the dust collection hose not being grounded.
but first…contact support as Will said
Many thanks. I don’t have a dust collector connected but having read lots of great advice on here now wondering if a nick in the cable is earthing to the machine? Have emailed Will.
There are many things that cause disconnects. Most likely suspect is static. My original control board had a flaky USB connector. It was loose and I put an adhesive wire tie holder on and tied the usb cable down to there was no stress on it.
Another possibility is if you are running on a laptop then disconnect your power supply and run on battery. My laptop will run for hours while others cannot run that long.
Many modern laptops are not grounded - they are only powered by two pins on the power plug. I recall one of my older macs under some circumstances always had a little bit of a tingle to it when touching the metal surface of the machine and other appliances.
This might mean the shield of the USB cable is not effectively grounded?
Gerry, a very good point, I’ll get on and check that. Many thanks, Geoff
