Large sign with individual letters

I am making a large 8’x4’ sign. It will have individual letters cut out and attached on. I plan to have the machine cut out letters individually. I will cut the wood stock down so they fit each letter. What is a good approach to take to save the file so I can do them separately. I have created the 8’x4’ image in Inkscape. My original plan was to take the font size used a take that to create many files containing each letter and repeat the upload process for each letter in Carbide Create.

Is there a better way?

I would set everything in one file and lay out it, then duplicate it as needed, and break it down to individual letters and arrange them for best efficiency.
