Laser guide for Material parallel to X / Y

Laser Alignment Solution for CNC

Although using alignment pins is an easy way to ensure a workpiece is perfectly parallel to the X or Y axis, some projects require custom placement on the machine bed. My solution was to repurpose an old laser level.

I designed an interface that attaches to the Z-axis accessory mount, pointing the laser directly down at the workpiece. Now, I simply jog the machine horizontally or vertically to ensure the laser dot remains aligned with the edge of the material. If an adjustment is needed, it’s easy to tweak the positioning before tightening the clamps. It takes less than 30 seconds to gain peace of mind rather than relying on “eyeballing” it.

A Suggestion for Carbide3D

I think Carbide3D should seriously consider offering a professional version of this device. In an ideal world, it would double as a laser measurement tool (accurate to 0.01"), allowing users to verify the flatness of their workpiece relative to the gantry.
