Your license is good for any build of Carbide Create released before it ceased to be eligible for updates, so 2/12/25 — it is expected that a user with a Perpetual license will archive the last build which works with their license — to get further updates another year of updates will need to be purchased.
Same thing happened to me with a Perceptual License that expired in September. I was charged but never got an email with new registration. In the mean time I updated CC and the Pro version did not appear.
In my case I emailed support and they sent me the registration code and I installed it.
The Perceptual License means until it expires it will work on the current version it had when expired. However if you update the Pro license is not activated. If you still have the older version of CC the Pro license will work. A little confusing but basically you have to stay on the version of CC installed at the date of expiration for the Pro version to continue to work.
Carbide Create Pro will activate for a year and you’ll get all updates released during that time. After the end of your subscription term, Carbide Create Pro will deactivate.
Perpetual License with a year of updates - $360 USD.
Your Carbide Create Pro license will function forever. You’ll be eligible for all updates released within a year of your purchase. After a year, your version of Carbide Create Pro will continue to function but you will not receive any new updates. Additional updates are available for $120/year.
Guy, that is how I understand it now. Every license policy is different, that is why I asked whether I did something wrong.
And yes, 813 works well with me.
Certainly I would miss a lot with the free CC version. Therefore a pro version is the one to go with for me.
Since we are still in the CC part of the forum, I mean to ask, what feature is worth it to buy a year long license on top of the perpetual I have and can use, what makes CC 835 Pro worthwile? As far as I can see there are a lot of fixes, possibly I wait for build 9.x.
Maybe I overlook something? Give me a reason…
It is impossible for me to answer what the new features are worth. C3D has been continuously improving CC since I started using it in 2019. They have made a lot of improvements. More to the point is I do not know what they have in mind for the future.
The real difference between Subscription and Perpetual license is the Subscription would quit working on the expiration date no matter what version of CC you have. The Perpetual would keep working on the version it was at when it expired. So for $120 it will work for exactly 1 year and the Perpetual it will update for a year but at the end of the year it still works just at the version of CC you have at the time of expiration.
So what C3D will do in the future is anybody’s guess. With their past record of improvement I can hope they keep improving and adding features on both the free and the Pro version. It would seem after 3 years the only benefit of paying for the Perpetual license is it will keep working but if you buy the yearly it stops working at the Pro level and reverts back to the free version after a year. I cannot remember if this is my 2nd or 3rd year with the Pro license. In my opinion the cost was worth the extra value the Pro version has added to my experience with CC.
