Limit on layers?

Is there a limit on the number of layers I can create. I don’t like it but I’m creating a bunch: probably 50 or so.

I suspect you will get tired of making layers long before the program ceases to allow you to make them.

I already am. It’s just the simplest way to be sure I do the right thing with the right vector.

After three days in the hospital, unrelated to Carbide Create, I’m trying again. Don’t think it’s PC, think it’s CC.

In a nutshell, I want to do 25° and 40° bevels with the grain, 3/4" deep. Anticipate using 1/4" Round nose in 20 steps. Picky! with 1/8" at bottom where the 1/4" can reach. Drew the angles and key positions in TurboCAD. Then created XLS with coordinates X & Z coordinates. Tested spreadsheet results against TurboCAD. Dead on.

Now to CC778. On the chance that CC was corrupted, I did reinstall. Created 20+ Layers corresponding to each cut. Then meticulously added the tool paths. Dad Save As frequently with progress numbers, watching new files and size so that I might spot failure promptly.
So far, so good. I think it’s actually done what I wanted with no wiped out files. At some point I probably want to hog out four or five chunks at the beginning. This is preview result.

Since I will need to to opposite bevel, hoping to be able to simply rotate the entire bunch without reentering a block of coordinates.

You’ll be able to salvage the geometry initially, but if I understand correctly you will want to inset each piece and assign a new toolpath…

which, unless you duplicate the current file into a new one will mean doubling the number of layers.

Pretty sure you understood the plan. Apparently I was still a bit looped, reading what I initially typed. But I’m feeling waaay better now. And thinking straight, too. Think I’ve decided to do the bevels in two passes. Duplicate the good, Final file for Rough, with passes out about 1/50". Then run the Final. Will see what happens.

Thanks for the help.
