Would moving my Shapeoko Pro XXL large from one location to another throw it out of square, other issues?
I know it is going to take a couple of people to move it since it is currently mostly assemble in my basement workshop. I am just finishing the assembly but having problems with the wiring due to most of the wires having faded labels that I cannot read. I am waiting to hear back from support on that and I have sent in photo’s.
In the mean time while I am waiting to hear back and can complete the assembly, etc. I am looking down the road when I move to my cabin for the summer. I am looking at buying an 5X8 cargo trailer and building a table in it for my Shapeoko Pro XXL and moving it along with a couple of the other woodworking machines. I would use the cargo trailer as an Auxiliary to my small wood shop at the cabin and run power to it and run the CNC inside of it.
As I stated above I realize it will take a couple of people to move it physically due to it’s size and weight but my bigger concerns if it could cause issues with the CNC machine such as throwing it out of alignment or causing even worse issues.
You might want to consider putting the machine on a thick plywood sheet and use a hand router to make handles etc on that sheet… so that you move the sheet, not so much the machine… that way it’ll stay squared etc
Just check square when you get it there. If you have to turn it sideways to get through doors likely through it off. Take the router out of mount so it does not bounce around on the road. Tie the gantry down so it does not move around.
I bolted some 2x4 and offcuts of ply down to the wasteboard to act as cradles for the X rail and Z axis when I had to let the removal clowns move mine. It was on a torsion box table which the frame is bolted to and it arrived 5 hours later just as square as it left.
