I have driven myself nuts trying to create a football that I can CNC. The simplest way I see it done is to make half a ball and glue 2 parts together. I really struggle with the 3d software! I would be more than willing to venmo someone to help me create it. I should be fine with the toolpaths and cutting. Im looking to make a few for awards for our football team. I would like it to be close to full size and one half have the holes so i can put laces on the top. I would really appreciate it! I have seen a few 3d files for sale online but unsure i could use them since im looking for 2 halves???

Would it be easier to buy a football?
i suppose the kids would love a walmart football for an end of season award. Lol… The wood ones online are pretty expensive so thats not an option. Id like to personalize with logo and stats possibly as well.
The part shown was made in multiple pieces, and may have been glued up and turned on a lathe.
If you were to try to cut this on a CNC machine it would take quite a large piece of stock, and also is complicated in terms of part geometry and how it interacts with the machine.
Are you using Carbide Create Pro?
There is a downloadable 3D model at:
You could download it and then it would want to be rotated:
Then the STL could be saved and be imported into a 3D CAM tool such as Carbide Create Pro:
You could then export the 3D model as a pixel image:
which can then be edited in a pixel image editor so that it will import as desired.
Or, one can go back to the 3D model and slice it:
which will then import as expected:
which can then have 3D toolpaths assigned.
Here is the pixel image:
which should import and allow creating 3D toolpaths.
awesome! Looks way more simple when laid out like that. I really appreciate it. Yes the pic was more than likely turned on a lathe. Was just using the pic as a reference. Thanks again!
yes i am attempting in carbide create pro!
This one looks pretty nice. Perhaps a bit fat??? But it comes in square…
