Lost files after running toolpaths in CM

Anyone lost their files after completing a project? It looks as though the file is still there in CC but when I open the file the design is not there. Only happening after file runs in CM. Running v7 and saving to One drive documents folder.

By any chance, did you export/save the G-code from Carbide Motion at any point?

Yeah I do believe I did.

This just got reported in the last day or two: Cabide Motion - G-Code - #12 by robgrz

I suspect the C2D got overwritten by the G-code. We’ll get a new release out before too long to eliminate this possibility in the future.

So i guess that file is unrecoverable and I’m going to have to redo it?
In the meantime how do I prevent this from happening with my next project?

If you have a thumb drive, I would save to that location also, as a just in case action. Verify they are on the drive and computer before going forward.

Good Luck

Thanks guys I appreciate your help!

I think it’s just from the Export G-code function in CM. Normal loading and running will not be a problem.

Use Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive so your file can be recoverable. I got Microsoft 365 family for $99 a year which gives me 5 MS Office licenses. It comes with 1 TB of OneDrive storage. I can work on a project in my house, save to OneDrive, and then pull it up on my computer in the shop. If get bit by this software bug, I can recover my original file because OneDrive has file versioning.
