Maintaining Definition using Offset Vectors

I’m completely new to CNC and Carbide Create. Is there a way to maintain the definition of an object when you use an offset vector? I would like to make a cutout of the TX state. When I create an offset vector, though, it loses the definition of the state.

I also tried copying and pasting the state and shrinking it, but this resulted in two shapes that didn’t line up correctly.

Thanks!

Offsetting to the outside in Carbide Create uses the distance of the offset as a radius so as to create geometry which matches how things would be cut out.

You would want to increase the size of the original, then inset it to get geometry which fits inside.
