McFly Maintainence and Care

Is there a care and maintenance document for the McFly cutter particularly as far as rotating the four-sided blades due to wear? How can you tell when the blade/s are becoming dull?

Other than recording or writing down run times/date//duration, etc., what is suggested for logging usage time for the machine and its components. This is a huge investment for someone like me and I want it to last.

Carbide is simple to tell if it is sharp. Just feel it. Feel one of the unused sides then feel the used edge. If it feels sharp it is. When all 4 sides are used up, which should be years and years from now you replace the inserts and start over.

Carbide is very strong but very brittle. Never drop your bits or leave them loose so they can clank around on each other. When you remove a bit store it away in its container.

You can put a new edge on carbide tools with a fine diamond stone. Just give the same number of strokes to each edge. Look on youtube for lots of videos on how to sharpen carbide. Sometimes a simple cleaning can rejuvenate a bit.
