McFly on glue beads?

Next CNC task is to flatten a big butcher block glue up. Any issues just hitting the side with glue drops with the McFly? No probs chiseling off, but if there’s no need would like to skip. My hunch is it would dull the McFly tho

I don’t think so. I did some end grain boards, glued them up, and flattened them, if a bit can cut end grain wenge and walnut it can cut everything. However I used two steps: first a rougher to get serious stuff off, and then 1/4mm the McFly.

I would remove big globs of glue. The reason is the glue is stuck to the wood and might pull a divot out with the glue blob. Just some surface glue would not likely pull the grain but even that might. So I would remove big globs of glue before surfacing. A carbide cutter running at speed has a lot more force than you might think. I dont think the glue would hurt the carbide cutter but why take that chance.

For wood working in general, I have always removed the residual glue on glue ups. This allowed non-carbide cutters (including saw blades) to last longer and more importantly allows an inspection of said joint to ensure it has sufficient glue and the joint is tight.
