Milling bits 1/8 - 1/4

Hi

I’ve purchased myself a Shapoko 3 along with dewalt trimmer and am looking to buy the milling bits - I tried the 6mm which is slightly too small, however all the bits sold on the Carbide’s site ate 1/8" Problem is I can’t find a 1/4 to 1/8 collet.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

Luke

What are you trying to mill ? Tools Today has a pretty big selection.

Further information in the table at: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Spindle_Options#100_to_999_Watts (one of these days I’m going to synch those two up and make a page for the Makita).

Thank you, looks like I will get a collet and nut kit.

@fiero1- At the moment I’m mainly playing with wood - nice and soft but in time I plan to mill Aluminium. I can find a huge range of tool, however when we consider the size of the shapeoko and the parts that can be made, many will involve what I’d consider to be small bits.

Carbide3D sells a 1/8" collet for the Dewalt 611. I purchased one and it works great! It’s a must have. https://shop.carbide3d.com/collections/tools/products/precision-collet-and-nut-for-dewalt-dwp611?variant=15492206278

thanks but it’s OOS - I have ordered one from Amazon - fingers crossed it’s the right kind.

Hi Luke I too have bought the same package including the De-Walt like you I thought that I would be able to get the jaws for the other size tool shaft. I live in the UK and bought all of the machining bits at the same time as I bought the machine expecting to get the parts easily but I was wrong. To get the part I wanted I have had to return back to the Shapeoko to get the correct parts so I can now start to play.

I bought and use this from Elaire Corp http://elairecorp.com/dewaltroutercollets.html#dwpanchor model DWP-1250 for the 1/8th one. Works great
