Missing 3D Model Components in New Updates?

I have a few projects that I’ve created 3D models/components for. I went to open them in Carbide Create and the 3D models shows nothing there. The toolpaths are there but the simulation cuts incorrectly.

So I opened up an older version of Carbide Create and there they were. So, the last build these 3D models appear correctly is Build 778, but I am now using Build 836 and the 3D models are missing.

I don’t want to have to re-create all my previous 3D models. Any thoughts?

V 8 Carbide create will not import V7 3D models. There’s no workaround, the only options are to continue using V7 or rebuild them in V8. Even worse, there’s no warnings or anything, V 8 just silently throws away all 3D parts of the file.

If you only need the final result, you may be able to use height-maps to rebuild a bit quicker. Export the PNG from V 7, use that to create the object in V 8.

So long as you don’t need to edit the 3D components individually, see:

Since I have not really used the 3D function for my S5 Pro, is it possible to have a source 3D file created in V7, reconfigure said file and then export as a new height map for a slightly different 3D carve?

My thought is to be able to use the V7 file, modify as needed, export new height map to V8?

This would allow some use of the V7 3D source file so it would not be completely lost so to speak or unusable?

Yes, that is exactly what is shown at the link.
