Depending on how I store it, but it usually has an extremely slight bend in it. If I cut a big shape out of it Ive had it move slightly as it has less material to maintain a little bend. I’ve learned to put it on the table with the edges being the part that wants to bend up and then clamping them down.
Not sure that made sense or was stupid obvious.
Torching it is helpful sometimes but can also change the “finish” to look less shiny. Test a piece of scrap.
Like I said earlier I have wanted to try using these types of materials. both your opinions and experience is nice to read as it gives me a realistic sense of what to look out for. Thanks for sharing !!
Yeah, this piece was 1/2" thick and 24x36 so it was pretty heavy. I also had the sweepy an inch or so off the surface to prevent possible suction pulling it up.
I do have a scrap to experiment on since I messed up the first $80 (plus shipping) chunk. Hoping I can salvage that for another project where the back won’t be visible.
This is the post I made on that final project.
@chckblier Colorcore is good, I like the look and the durability. Just spend some time doing experimentation to find what works for you.
Oh, and @chckblier I should have added that I really like the signs you did. The painted recess around that 48 really makes that one pop and the curved line is a super nice touch. I have the Pro XXL as well BTW.
thanks I appreciate it. I should mention I have had similar issues happen in wood. I feel like they have happened when I have changed, updated and tweak a tool path a bunch of times… I dont know that to be true but I have noticed a correlation to wonky results after changing and previewing a tool path in Carbide Create a bunch of times. I absolutely love my Pro XXL BTW… I might upgrade in the near future but for now I’m very happy.
