Nature Hates Me

Went to the big box store to pick up some maple. Had a project for a customer. They actually came over to inspect the grain layout. ??? OK ??

Very simple pocketed frame. I am fat dumb and happy with a simple job. The project started on the pocket, almost finished I hear a weird sound. Hit a pocket of sand.

Toasted the bit and the piece is toast because of the depth of the sand.

Love nature. I should go back to fishing. The lures are cheaper

I have been lucky, this is the largest piece of included garbage I have found. Just another experience to remember

The fishing is always good. Now the catching, that’s another story.

A couple of months ago I was planning a piece of rough cut maple to make a sign. I heard an awful noise and in the middle of a piece 13" wide maple was a nail or staple. This was no where near the outside of the board so maybe when the tree was younger someone was holding up a fence wire maybe?

Luckily it did not do any real damage and I extracted the metal and kept going. I was able to patch the hole later.

I have thought about buying one of those cheap metal detectors because I use a lot of rough cut lumber.

@Zman Nature does not hate you it is simply reminding you that it is in charge and our illusion of being in charge blows away in the wind.

My husband has a metal detector that never gets used. What an amazing idea to use it for!
