Need BitiSetter Troubleshooting steps

My BitSetter decided to go wonky this afternoon. I had successfully run a few flattening passes and everything worked fine. Then, on one pass, the BitSetter cycle failed. The router started to drop on the BitSetter but then stopped about halfway down. I tried again with the same results.

I power-cycled everything and got the same result again. After a couple more attempts, it started lowering all the way to the BitSetter button but then didn’t stop. It kept trying to drop further until the cycle failed.

Are there any troubleshooting steps I can follow to figure out what my problem is? I’ve looked but so far, haven’t found anything.

They’re pretty much binary — either they work, or they don’t.

Things which cause them not to work:

  • wrong Z-axis configuration — can cause a timeout
  • BitZero and ground lead touching and sending a Probe active input
  • endmill geometry not compatible w/ the size of the BitSetter
  • some other mechanical issue
