Need Troubleshooting Assistance - Shapeoko 3XXL

Hey Everyone -

UPDATE - ISSUE RESOLVED

I turned off the machine, then disconnected the X proximity sensor from the cable that runs to the controller (the white clips), waited 30 seconds then reconnected them. I turned the machine back on and it initialized perfectly!

Thanks for the feedback and assistance everyone, it’s very appreciated! :+1:t2:

Due to a family medical issue, I haven’t used my XXL for well over a year. I now have some time to get back at it, but I’m having an issue initializing the machine. When it gets to the back right corner it’s like it gets jammed.

I did brush off the belts, wheels and motors and checked them for cracks/damage. It’s been so long since I’ve used the machine, I’m guessing it’s something obvious… but I appreciate any help anyone can provide.

I’m using the latest version of Carbide Motion. I have a video of the issue here.

Could not tell much for the video when I downloaded it it was really short.

When the machine went to the rear did it make any noises when it was at the rear?

Your video doesn’t actually show anything. Did you upload the wrong one?

Regardless, if during initialization it heads to the back right corner and then grinds, that means one of your limit switches isn’t working. Check the wiring for the switches.

Do you have mechanical or proximity switches?

Sorry about the poor video… it does make a jackhammer sound like it’s trying to keep moving in a dip it blocked.

Thanks… I’ll check the limit switch. :+1:t2:

Check the right config is in CM for your machine. Mine changes all by itself once in a while

As Michael suggested power on the machine and DO NOT INITIALIZE and send the configuration. Then see if it initializes. If it does not then follow below.

Turn you Shapeoko off. Move the gantry and Z axis to the right rear and power on. DO NOT INITIALIZE. With CM open you can check if any of your proximity switches are activated. If they are not check their adjustment. Power off your machine and move the gantry away from the right rear and do the normal trouble shooting for proximity switches. Power on the machine and hold a metal object in front of it and see if the light goes on. With the metal object on the proximity switch you can see in CM if the proximity switch is activated.
