New day new skill check

So I am getting a better handle on boolean but I am trying to create more of a layered look to some monograms where the Initial is underlying the boxed in name. This way I can contour our the negative space giving it a deeper look. On the top two I used the copy feature and brought the name copy over the boolean subtract where there was dead space but I don’t know how you’d go about creating the toolpath that would achieve this design. I hope this makes sense… On the bottom 2 I have just tried to recreate what I have done previously but that doesn’t seem quite right either. I see topics on layering is this the route I need to go and do a complete redesign?

If you have difficulty managing selections and arrangement of geometry, then yes, using Layers is the tool to allow for more control.

Thanks for the response but that doesn’t make sense I my limited use.

Layers are used for organizing sets of vectors (shapes and lines) so you can manage them more easily.

They are like different sheets of paper, stacked on top of each other, onto which you can draw different parts of the design.

They don’t necessarily create a layered effect in what you cut, and anything you can do using CC’s layers would be done the same way without the layers.
