Bought new Carbide router for my Shapeoko pro XXL, used it twice since install. bits are set to factory settings as far as speed and depth go, and cutting pine board.
Router kept surging and slowing during cut had to stop second run.
Turned router on just sitting in space and went from 3 to 4 then 5 on speed dial router kept slowing and surging then began to spark and smoke and basically imploded!
anyone else have this problem with a new Carbide router?

If you can’t wait on shipping for a replacement the Makita RT0701 is a drop-in replacement using the same collets and brushes — albeit with a shorter cord, different control layout, dial which lacks detents and may vibrate off a given speed setting, and in teal.
Thank you for the quick response!
Something tells me @WillAdams that teal is not your favorite color.
In all the time I used a Makita router, I never had any issue with the speed dial vibrating so much that it changed the speed of spindle… But then I never tried to push it really hard or use it for aluminum machining.
Not mine, that is for sure
