New start up of a S5 has me with some questions.
It first started with the x axis sensor. Once that was dealt with by a little repositioning the unit controller had its issues. By some luck it finally initiated, i was able to start a drawing project. After it started i cancelled the project to see how that part functioned as well. Now the unit has tripped both y and y2. Im uncertain what i can do to fix this issue. I can only assume things to do and im not sure i should. From reading on here, i seem to be getting the typical screen errors about controller restart, homing failure, failure to clear, undefined state etc. Seems to be common enough i shouldnt be too worried. Anyone that has experience my issue have an idea for where to begin?
Troubleshooting is always done one step at a time. So concentrate on 1 thing at a time. Fix that one thing and then move on to t he next thing. Using a shotgun method will never get you fixed except by accident.
You mentioned your proximity switches. Are they on all the time or wont trigger? If they are on all the time then go back and double check your wiring and where it connects. If the proximity switches wont trigger then manually move the machine to the homing position and turn on and connect but do not initialize. Then adjust proximity switches until they trigger. Then try to initialize.
As you said it seems like the new controllers in the SO5 give a lot of error messages if things do not go just right. Be sure to power off the SO5 before trying to attach again to eliminate any weird states of the controller.
Thank you for your reply.
Only on when the gantry is in proximity, which is great, shows proper functionality. However, the unit went to the home postion and triggered both y and y2.
For me being so new, i had no resolution to moving the gantry out of that position, except manually. I unplugged all connections to the control so i didnt cause back emf to the controller while the unit was moved manually (i assume that should be done).
I havent tried to start it up again yet. I hadnt realized the support here was so quick and informative. Ill start it up again soon. Stay tuned i guess : ) thank you.
Power to the unit again.
Connected, initilization saw gantry and router adjust. Then the y and y2 alert with a terrible sounding noise. Had the mouse ready on the stop button for this. Stopped the process immediately.
Simply put, im back to where i started.
My only thought is that the gantry travels too far and makes the sensors trip. My input has Shapeokon5 4x4 selected and the proper measurements.
That position will depend on where the origin is set.
Jog the machine around a bit and set zero — does the position then make sense to you?
The machine wont initialize for me to do that, or is there a way i can. I did have it initialize once, so i do understand what you are refering to. I had an x axis issue which i seem to have resolved. Then after a quick drawing project that i cancelled to make sure things were working from a safety stand point, of emergency stop, the machine returned to the back right corner and trips y and y2 with a terrible sound.

I was with tech support on saturday but we didnt get any resolution as the work day was coming to an end. I imagine this will be followed up on by monday. I also booked an appointment for thursday, the earliest date available.
