The kits should come with a block of aluminum, or a hardwood, to machine a nice Carbide3D branded coaster…

Note sure yet. I have had a Nomad for a little over a year now. Just did my first Aluminum project this last week. I got some ideas though.

I got a new/first shapeoko a couple weeks ago, and it is totally rad. Coming at it with no experience, I wish I had spent the months of feverish anticipation learning CAD/CAM and designing projects.

Give yourself time. It is a learning curve.
Walk away when the frustration mounts. Document what you learn in your words.

Congrats! I got my 4XXL yesterday and my husband is currently putting it together!!! So excited!
Wise words. Fortunately, my previous machine taught me many things; good and bad. While I’m not an expert, I am confident that with past experience, and the help with Carbide3D customer service and the community, that I’ll be able to get rolling easily.

Well she got here today. I’m fighting the urge to spend all night setting her up. I haven’t been able to machine anything on the Nomad all week. I’m going through withdrawal. The chip fan had been wearing out, it fell during a hardwood project and ended up destroying the project. C3D sent me 2 new ones that also got here today.
