I just received my new shapeoko xxl but delayed getting bits because I want to search quality bits that will work for what I need.
What I need it to do:
Cut right through 1/2" baltic birch, the tighter corners I can get the better
(mostly cutting cursive writing)
Wont need it to carve.
Thanks guys!

We have some official recommendations at: https://docs.carbide3d.com/support/#tooling-support
The community has more at: https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/Endmills#Long_endmills — sounds like you might want some long (in proportion) endmills.
Best detailing you can get though is with a V carve — see: https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/Carbide_Create_Basics#Clearing_area_around_drawing

Adding to what Will mentioned. If you are cutting entirely through, you might want to consider compression endmills. They will give you good finish on bottom and top.
