Nomad Pro surfacing waste board question

Hi All,

To surface my Nomad wasteboard I’m planning on using a 1 inch Spoil board Surfacing Router Bit (3 flute). The bit has a deeper section in the middle which will affect the proper height measurement by
the bit setter. While doing a search on the forum, someone suggested disabling the bit setter but also mentioned that the Nomad can crash doing that.

What is the best way to use a Spoilboard Surfacing Router Bit on the Nomad? Do I need to disable the bitsetter?

In advance, thanks all.
Gunter

Don’t.

The Nomad spindle isn’t designed for large tooling which requires a lot of torque to spin up.

Even 1/4" tooling should only be used in softer materials (machining wax, maybe Renshape).

Ok then how do I go about surfacing my mdf spoil board on my Nomad Pro?

Gunter

Use a 1/8" #102 tool — we used a similar one to surface the bed itself.

Gotcha, thank you!
