When using the Stingray Drag Knife with my Nomad, I would receive the error “Probing Cycle Failed”. I found a workaround in case anyone else runs into this issue. Placing a small neodymium magnet on top of the tool measure probe will allow it to complete its cycle without error. See the attached photo.
Wouldn’t the thickness of the magnet throw off the measurement by that amount?
It would, but the measurement doesn’t matter because the Stringray is spring-loaded. On the Nomad the measurement step is built in and can’t be disabled, so this workaround lets you continue to the cutting phase.
Got it – works with the Stingray, but wouldn’t with an endmill.
