Normal for z axis to be 1mm off stock after probe?

I’m using the official probe but I noticed that after if I moved the z down to 0 it’s still about 1mm above the stock. Is this normal? What could I be doing wrong if it’s not?

The Probe should be as close to perfectly accurate as the machine allows.

Usually if it’s off, it’s off by 3mm — one sets up the probing as for a corner and only probes Z.

Please check the machine mechanically and if you continue to have difficulties which are repeatable please write them up and send them in to us at support@carbide3d.com and we’ll do our best to help.

If the probe gets tipped (it’s a little tippy) and/or you’re not probing “in the circle” - it can move and cause this error.
