Oh oh squaring gantry problem

I see where others on this forum have had this same problem but not with as large a gap, I went to square the gantry(pulled it all the way to the front of the y plates) and had a 3/8" gap on the right side in front and a larger gap on the left side in back. However the diagonals measured almost identical dimensions so not a parallelogram.

I’m thinking of removing the gantry, then measure the rails and check them for square. Will probably also remove and reattach the mdf spoil board, all the while checking for square.

Almost like starting over.

Mine is the same way and has been for 2 yrs. I went through the headache of tearing it apart mule times only to find the rails aren’t exactly square on the ends. I’ve shimmed it and gotten it close but it cuts square so I gave up, otherwise I would have gone insane. lol

Hi,Jim, had the same problem. Had a 1/4" gap on the right side. Filed all the ends square, they were 1/16" out and shimmed the X rails at the rear, now ok. Comes up square front and back now. Told that now they machine the ends so hopefully this problem will not keep reccuring. Keep up the good work I’m sure we’ll get there in the end.

Looks like support is already on it, but mine was about 1/4" out. I just made sure that the diagonals were all the same length, then shimmed the gantry so it hit at the same time, I’ve had no issues with squareness in my jobs since then

FWIW, here’s my way of shimming the X axis using aluminium foil.

I have the same issue as well. Mine seems due to a bent Y carriage plate. A straight end held to it shows its cupped by about 0.01" at the apex. I emailed support about it, but still have not heard back from them. Just want to buy a plate if its an option.

Yeah, I am thinking that if they cut the x-axis beam crooked, the other two beams ((y-axis) are probably also cut crooked at the ends.

It’s all good. A little filing, a little shimming and we’re square. It was the x-axis beam all along. Glad that’s over. Now on to the next challenge.
