How can I open my existing Carbide Create V8 files now that I’m using Carbide Create Pro Build 815. They won’t open.
They should — where are the files stored? What is the compleat filepath?
What are the names of the files?
Try making a small test file and saving it in the same place as a file which won’t open using a similar name?
Note that accented characters interfere w/ opening files (but will allow them to be saved)
Will,
Thanks for your quick response. C:/Users/KurtK/Documents/Shapeoko/Blairsville Coaster Design File.c2d. It seems that CC files saved since my new subscription a few weeks ago will open okay but older ones won’t open. After I try to open them and nothing happens and then try to X out of Carbide Create, I get a window that pops up that states This document has been modified, do you want to save your changes. Within File Manager, it shows the files with content in them e.g. 1,305 kb.
For older files, if they are v6, this is mentioned in the announcement notes:
https://carbide3d.com/blog/create-v8/
Create V6 files do not load into V8
You will need to open v6 files in v7 (available at: Downloads ) and re-save them as v7 files in order to open in v8.
For v7 files with 3D models, as noted:
Files from prior versions will not load 3D components in V8. There were too many changes to the internal format for the new capabilities of 3D, and there was no good way to map existing 3D components into V8.
For a work-around, see:
Thanks so much Will!
