I’m building a table for hopefully a SO Pro XL.
The XL Pro specs :
Footprint: 50" (X), 24.65" (Y), 19" (Z)
What depth would be desirable to add for overhang of the router/sweepy in the Y?

I have an xxl reg Shapeoko and I built a torsion box with 8 inches on the front. That seems a good width to put my calipers and a plastic tray to catch bits that fall from the router. Plus I have an emergency stop button with magnetic switch on the left side. You need some room but not so much you cannot reach the back of the waste board.
I’m looking to have as little extra space as needed. Was just curious as if I wanted to put 3 plexiglass sheets (wall at the back), then it might be nice not to need to build out the front to prevent the router from hitting the plexiglass.
I just finished building an enclosure for my XL Pro. I’ll try to get some pictures and dimensions for you tomorrow.
The inside of my enclosure measures 55"W x 30"D. At 30" the doors won’t close with the router all the way to the front, which is only when I’m using the BitSetter. The machine is pushed all the way to the back with only 1.5" of space. The sides have about 2.75"
I’d say make it at least 32" If you’re going to have doors and want them close at all times.
This is awesome, thanks for taking the time to grab some pictures and share!
Hey ReyS, could you tell me the height inside your enclosure, and do you find it works well or would you adjust it?
Thanks, Jeff
Sorry for the late reply, Jeff. Inside the enclosure the height is 29.125". I have 10.5" of space between the ceiling and the top of the Z motor.
Height works well, I wouldn’t change it. It has plenty of space for the hose and for me to work on the machine. But know that the base where the cnc sits is 40" from the ground.
Here’s an overall view of it. Final piece wasn’t exact to the drawing but it was my first time making something this big.
Thanks so much for the dimensions and the drawings, it helps!
