Hello,
I am machining aluminum and i need to do 5/16 holes into a 1/4in thick aluminum piece. I used drilling to go faster but adjusting the plunge rate doesn’t have no impact.
Am I doing something wrong or should I do milling instead?
Best practice is to machine as a pocket using a smaller tool and to ramp in (Carbide Create Pro feature) — in tough materials consider leaving a roughing clearance greater than any defect caused by deflection and then take a finishing pass.
Looks like the drilling toolpath in Create uses feedrate to dictate the active speed of the toolpath, not plunge rate. Slightly confusing, but that should get you the behavior you want.
