Pockets with erratic path after update from Carbon Create V6 to V7

Since I’ve updated from Carbide Create V6 to V7, paths for pockets are calculated in a weird manner. A lot of unnecessary retracts and back and forth, what elongates the cutting.

What am I doing wrong? I already deleted the paths an recreated the project with the same result.

It looks like the errant retracts are all in the center between the 2 vectors. Try changing your stepover just a little bit.

Thanks a lot, this solved the issue. I assume that choosing the stepover as exactly half the cutter width leads to calculation problems with tiny leftovers that were cleaned.

I don’t know if it’s “half the cutter dia” or an even factor of the slot/pocket width & stepover. I’ve seen it in other CAM software too, where the initial pass is on center or very close, it has a hard time deciding when to engage.
