Noticed a few oddities about the Shapeoko 3 XXL I ordered.
the Carbide logo on the spindle mount is green and made of rubber/vinyl and theres an outline of old adhesive from where an old logo appears to have gone…
The warning / eye protection logo was already applied to the X-Axis…
Inconsistent wrapping of some parts… one of the cross supports was rapped in white paper vs. brown paper for the rest.
My Serial Number is either none existent… or just happens to be the current year “2019”. But it doesn’t look like the embossed/stamped serial numbers I’ve seen in some videos/pictures.
Interesting, is that the new Carbide logo and they removed the old one on their mounts in stock to put on the new but I see that the person did not even put it properly inside the recessed area. I know that the SN is stamped very lightly on mine, I have to get close and look at it from an angle to see it. The photo appears to show none but look at the plate closely from several angles to see if you can spot something.
I also just received and assembled my XXL, and have the same things except that spindle mount logo. My logo is the normal one. Everything else, I received in the same fashion.
My XXL, from early this year, also has no serial number on the plate–just the “2019” printed on it. I assume they stopped engraving serial numbers at some point.
We’ve been fighting with various adhesives on the logo for the router mount and it looks like that one shifted after it was applied. If you’d like us to swap it out, we can.
We stopped putting serial numbers a while ago so it’s normal not to have one.
EDIT: (We never ship refurbished units unless we make a big mistake)
