Power Cord Carrier

I was creating an 8" x 10" x ½" pocket in ¾" MDF using a 1 ¼" mortsing bit when I experienced a disconnect. I started the job a second time and again the dreaded disconnect.

I switched to a ¾" mortising bit (reducing the amount of sawdust flowing through the vacuum hose) and completed the job successfully.

Looking through the plethora of posts about disconnects I came across one that reported success by separating the vacuum hose and router power cable. I have my vacuum hose and router power cable sharing the same swinging arm assembly - literally entwined around each other. It looked like something to address.

I made hangers for the power cord using wooden clothes pins from the laundry room. A small hole drilled in one leg of the clothes pin accepts a thin nylon wire tie which secures it to the swinging arm. The power cord is held securely in the jaws of the clothes pin.

A quick, inexpensive solution.
