Hi All, just getting a pro 5 4X2 with Shapeoko spindle set up in my shop and am trying to figure out how and where I will mount all the electronics.
I am wondering how everyone goes about powering their machines up and down for the day? I really do not want to have to locate the control box and VFD up front where I can reach the power switches without ducking my head underneath the table to find them each time… My idea is to plug everything into a heavy duty power strip and use that to power the machine and VFD up and down. I am using a 30 amp dedicated shop receptacle. Is cutting the power at the power cord any different than using the power switch? Are there any issues I need to consider with going this route? How are others handling this?
I also plan to relocate the small VFD control panel off the main unit up front somewhere with a RJ45 cable. Does anyone ever use the small VFD control panel for anything besides displaying the RPM?
Thank you in advance to anyone who is willing to help a noob along the CNC path.

I plugged mine into an EMI filtering surge protector and just switch that on and off.
