Programming questions

Hello, I’m helping a friend with their CNC. I’ve a couple of questions. I program and run Mazak machine tools. I’m looking for common features.

1: is it possible to view the code as the machine runs, line for line, single block?

2: can you extract the embedded NC code from carbide create?

3: I’d like to make minor adjustments to a given tool. The CNCs I’ve ran have an area to comp the tools beyond defining the cutter comp side (left, right, center) is there an area I can come a given tool?

4: I’ve a similar question to (3) for the work offset. If there a way I can’t shift things globally? My friend said when he’s adjusted this in the past it cause problems….

  1. Lines of code are displayed by Carbide Motion as the file runs, but no guarantee every line will display (that would slow things down too much I suspect)
  2. Yes, this can either be done directly using a Pro license, or by connecting to a machine using Carbide Motion, then loading the file — there’s a button to “Save G-code” in the Preview window
  3. You would need to duplicate a tool and edit the diameter for it
  4. Grbl supports Work Coordinates, but not sure if that is allowed in Carbide Motion.

1- so on his I can’t see the code anywhere on screen. I assume he needs to toggle a setting or view but the options are limited.
