Project will plunge to the bottom of the machine (Z-)

When I click “Start Job” this message appears.

Project will plunge to the bottom of the machine (Z-).
(The program zero is 1.3mm too low.)

Do I make Z- higher on Carbide motion? or do I have to do something on Carbide Create?

This is a function of where the tip of the tool is relative to the Z-axis.

See:

https://carbide3d.com/blog/carbide-motion-bounds-checking/

Basically, with the length of tool you have now, you have set the origin so low, and the file will want to cut so low that the machine will bottom out before cutting the last 1.3mm.

Ways to fix it:

  • Adjust the tool so it has an additional 1.3mm of stickout and re-zero the Z-axis
  • put a spoilboard under your stock which is 1.3mm or thicker and re-zero the Z-axis
  • adjust the file so that it cuts 1.3mm less deeply and load the modified version

Thank you so much! It worked :slightly_smiling_face:
